Koomaren Ramasamy is the founder and Head of Chambers of OneTreeHill Chambers.
He is the holder of an LLB Hons from the University of Wales and an LLM international Business and Commercial Law from the University of West London.
Koomaren has experience in the betting industry having worked as Deputy Manager for the William Hill Organization, a leading service provider in the United Kingdom.
He was called to the High Court of Auckland, New Zealand as a Barrister and Solicitor in 2019.
Subsequently, after 9 months Pupillage at the Attorney General’s Office and 3 months at the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, he was called to the Bar in Mauritius in January 2021.
Koomaren had the opportunity to join a leading Chambers which have been awarded the Chambers and Partners Law Firm of the year for 2022.
In January 2022 he left his work at the Chambers to start his own practice, namely OneTreeHill Chambers.
The Chambers’ practice consists mainly of Dispute Resolution, Advisory and Regulatory work.
Prior to being admitted to the Bar, Koomaren had the opportunity to serve in the legal and compliance department of an Offshore Management Company and was subsequently appointed as the Secretary of the Environment and Land Use Appeal Tribunal under the aegis of the Prime Minister’s Office from 2014 to 2020.
Koomaren has extensive teaching experience having lectured for the Northumbria University LLB Hons Distance learning programme, prepared students for the New Zealand Law Practice examination and also currently teaching as a part time lecturer at the University of Technology, Mauritius.
Koomaren Ramasamy also conducts regular webinars for University Students, the most recent ones being a presentation on the pathway to becoming a Barrister and Solicitor in New Zealand and a webinar on Human rights for the Law society of Middlesex University Mauritius and the Human Rights Society of the University of Mauritius respectively.
